We left early Thursday morning and went straight to our hotel, which I will stay in again in a heart beat next time we are in San Antonio...the rooms were nice, more like little cabins, rather than hotel rooms, our room had a little deck/front porch that looked directly at their huge playground, and the hospitality in this hotel is better than I have ever seen anywhere...ever. So, they let us check in early, then we went to the Buckhorn Saloon for lunch, then across the street to the San Antonio Children's Museum (they had just opened a new HEB grocery store in their basement that day), then we walked a couple of blocks over to the Riverwalk, then ate at the Rainforest Cafe on the Riverwalk (the girls, and Mommy, LOVED that).
Friday we went to Sea World first thing in the morning and stayed there all day. We saw most of the shows and fed all the animals we could feed! Sam loved the Shamu show and even did everything the trainer told the crowd to do without me having to say a thing. Both the girls had a blast feeding the dolphins and sea lions. Madison was a champ and did not fuss either day...without a nap!
Saturday we went to Poteet, TX to their Strawberry Festival. There were a bunch of vendors there and a carnival twice the size of the biggest one I've ever seen, but carnivals have lost their appeal in my book. The prices were horrible...it would have been $30 for the four of us to ride the ferris wheel...if they even would have let us...the girls weren't big enough they said. We couldn't' get the girls on any ride for that matter...except the merry-go-round.
We found one ride that the girls could go on - a 32 inch minimum height, and Madison hit the 32 inches with a little room to spare and they wouldn't let her on it. By then, we were so upset with the carnival we just left...not to mention it was hot. But the girls never got upset about the carnival, they liked seeing all of the fun stuff. We didn't let it bother us though...we didn't know the festival was pretty much just a carnival, and we didn't regret checking it out. That afternoon we just laid low and swam in the hotel pool that had a deep middle, a 3 foot pool on one side, and a 1 foot pool on the other. It was refreshing to be able to let Sam play in the 1 foot pool while I sat poolside to catch a little sun. Greg pulled Madison around in the floaty. That evening we went to Magic Time Machine for dinner, where everyone is dressed up as some character. Not the greatest place for kids, but they still had fun.
Sunday we went to the San Antonio zoo. I had heard mixed reviews about the zoo due to the complete makeover they are getting and all the construction that is going on. We happened to get there shortly after "Phase 1" was finished, and they had just begum "phase 2." We didn't even notice the construction. The toddler area there is absolutely amazing. The kids were in heaven. By mid-day Madison was getting fussy, though she handled it like a trooper. We let Madison nap a little in the hotel while I took Sam to the pool for a little bit. That evening we went to Incredible Pizza for dinner. The kids ate free and the buffet was actually really good. Then the game area had plenty for the little ones, so they played their little hearts out.
Monday we left and Greg let me shop for a few hours at the San Marcos Outlets on the way home.
We could not have asked for a better weekend. Sam had not one minute of nap the entire 5 days and was better than she has ever been. Madison handled no nap for three days like a champ, but that is her max...though even at her grumpiest, the weekend went off without a hitch. And for Greg to say the exact same thing, it must have been perfect!!!
I could not have asked for anything better for our first family vacation.

Here, we are on Sam's first real roller coaster. She was a little scared at first, and at the first downhill she got a little wet and cried but when I laughed and told her it was fun and we were supposed to get a little wet, then she really enjoyed it. She kept saying..."it's not over yet Mommy." Then she didn't want to leave when the ride was over.
We actually were able to take Madison on this same ride too. We all went together when Sam and I were finished, but Madison wasn't happy at all with the ride!
