Update on Greg

Well...it had been 9 days since I heard anything from Greg, but he finally called!!!! He just got back from the port where he and the other ADVON (Advanced party) guys picked up the helicopters and other equipment that came in by boat. It took a little longer than expected, but they had no problems. In all of my excitement from hearing his voice, I forgot to ask if they flew the helicopters or loaded them and convoyed them back into Kuwait. But, he is back there now and had his first flight yesterday. They are practicing "dust flights" to prepare themselves for flying in the dust storms of Iraq. He has another flight in the morning.

He says they are just getting everything ready to go into Iraq. He says he is eating good and everything is fine. They are sharing a big tent with Alpha Company to sleep in. Internet is available for an exorbitant amount of money and they would have to share it with every other soldier on the base, so we decided not to get internet for the short time he is in Kuwait. They are too busy anyway.

Since he is unable to look at the blog right now I told him about the videos of the girls watching him read to them and he got choked up. All in all, he is doing great, but he misses the girls terribly. We miss him terribly too.

As for us, we are in Lufkin at the moment and are leaving early in the morning to go to Alabama to spend a week with our dear friends. The girls love their Daddy book and their special Daddy candy jars. Every night after dinner and before bathtime we pull out the jars and take one jelly bean out, then the girls throw up their hands and yell "Daddy home" as I throw up my hands with them and yell "one day closer to seeing Daddy!" My heart flutters every time.
